I have been Machine Quilting this week. Not free motion or ditch quilting, BUT quilting with the Embroidery machine's. I had forgot how many quilting designs I had, So Saturday after work I set my machines up and off I went. This is one of the new designs from Husqvarna ,all you do is load it into your machine, hoop up your quilt and off you go. I am using the Ruby. It is only a new machine it came out late last year. Very nice to use.
Position the design in the middle, check to see if it is going to fit and hit start. I will shadow quilt when this part is finished also.
I always pinned most of my quilts , but lately I have been tacking. I find the quilt stays together better and the overall effect turns out alot better. Using the sweet 16 is much easier if it tacked also. Sometimes I get so many quilt tops done Jan and Leanne do some for me.
I know I talk alot about machine Embroidery BUT that's what I do. I LOVE IT. It's the next step of sewing for me. I still love everything else but I love learning the technology of Machine Embroidery ,always something new happening. These Russian Rolls I have been stitching out to. They are so cute. There will be 12 in total and they come in 2 sizes.

They are applique. Everything we normally do with patchwork and quilting you can do on the Embroidery Machines.

Also this week it was my birthday. Thank you to everyone for there kind wishes (and the cakes)And thanks to Ally for this Fabric. It's beautiful, I love it.
Don't Forget classes for this week are only on Monday and Tuesday 9 - 1. No monday night class and we will be closed from Good friday till Tuesday and re-open on Wednesday with all classes back to normal.

Hope you all have a great Easter.
Till next week Happy Sewing Jody

New bag and Designs

This is the bag our Machine Embroidery ladies just finished. It's a new 3D flower that they received free when they brought the 200x200 hoop. Some ladies made 2. We did it this size 12" by 12" so they could use it for there embroidery thread containers. They fit perfectly.

I'm really pleased with the response I am having with our clubs, so thankyou to everyone. I haven't got a bag for April, as I said last post we'll use April as I catch up month. So everyone don't stress you won't be behind. BUT be ready because May it is going to be BUSY.

This bag I am doing the sample now. It uses a jelly roll and a cotton piping. I have joined 30 of the strips together and than folded in half and pressed.

(thanks Gail for doing that)
I'm not really onto the Bali pops, BUT as I opened them I started to like them, I think they will really suit this Bag.
It is a special Cotton like piping that you use.

It looks really small in this photo but it is quite large.
OKAY, ready to sew. I will start it in the morning. Oh no I won't, I have a lesson. maybe later in the afternoon.I will keep you up to date with how it is going.
These 2 new machine Embroidery Designs just came in. I LOVE them. 1 is for quilting in your hoop. Gotta Love that. I will probably talk more about Machine Embroidery as that is what I love, to mix it with Patchwork.
LOVE LOVE LOVE these New Designs.
And LOOK stippling in the hoop. No more excuses
Just a reminder don't forget I will not being having Wednesday and Friday classes in the school holidays and we will be closed for 5 days over Easter.

Monday and Tuesday will remain the same. And of course Monday nights and Saturdays are never affected by the school holidays.

Anyway till next time

What a Week

What a Week,

I feel like I haven't caught up from the weekend. The shop has been really busy and classes too. How do we fit it all in? Luckily I love what I do and that makes up for it. (that's what I keep telling myself anyway)

This is my mum (Robyn) she is the best mum in the world. She puts up with alot from me and the shop, and never complains (to me anyway) She also looks after my nan. She taught me to sew but I teach her now (ha,ha) I bet you never thought your daughter would be able to service your machine, hey mum. Thanks for always being there.

Just look at this Quilt. It is so beautiful, Meryl has done a great job, And Jan Foster for her Quilting ,it just takes my breath away.I love mixing Patchwork with Machine Embroidery.

And Marilyn's Quilt. Well what can I say, just looking at it speaks for itself. Jan also quilted this one. What a talented Lady. This is not done with embroidery thread, just normal polyester construction thread. Makes it look more antique. Just Beautiful. It's wonderful to have these ladies in my classes ,I really look forward to seeing them and what they have done next.

Well ,more photo's from the retreat. Irene won a bag that was made by Suzanne. Josie and I won some Handmade Fairies. They are so cute. Cosima made them. Thanks girls for making those for some of our prizes.
Meryl and Me

Ena Won a prize for the first person to finish a project. YOU GO GIRL. Leanne finished one of her bags. That looks like a good one for the Bag Club. Thanks Leanne. We have formed a committee for all our retreats. Deb Dafter, Robyn Dowse and Ena Green, will be the ladies that will organise Retreats so if anyone has any idea's please let them know. Lyn Colley organised this years retreat but she is going to be a little busy with the Central Coast quilt show next year so we will give her a break. Thanks for this year Lyn it was GREAT.

I haven't Planned any workshops for the Month of April as it is school holidays and Easter (yah,5 days off in a row) and it will come and go really fast. So we'll use it as a catch up month. All the ladies I spoke to this week agreed. BUT, be ready for May because there is alot planned Diamond and Topaz Club, Software Days, Bag of the month, Overlocker Day and if that isn't enough the guild has a Monica Poole workshop Day and Fabric Dying Day.

I feel tried just writing that.

Anyway, till next time
